About Us | History

Hogan's Jewelers has been a fixture in downtown Gaylord, Michigan for 50 years. Ollie and Geraldine Hogan founded the family business on Main Street in 1958 a couple blocks west of its present location at 311 W. Main Street. Ollie and Gerry were very well known faces about town - Ollie's daily walking trips up and down Main Street (often times selling jewelry right out of his vest pocket) are still recalled by long-time Gaylord locals. Gerry's bailiwick was the back room at Hogan's where she took care of the business side and for one period of time even handled the Michigan Secretary of State duties, selling licenses plates from the back door.

Our current owner, Gene Sanders, bought the business from his in-laws, the Hogan's, in 1980. Gene expanded the size of the business in order to accommodate a showroom for grandfather and wall clocks, fine crystal and collectibles. In addition, the inventory of diamonds, colored gemstones, gold ring mountings, watches, and high quality fashion jewelry has increased significantly. Hogan's takes great pride in our far-ranging customer base - we have customers who have been shopping here for over 40 years, and now their children and grandchildren are loyal Hogan's customers. Even when they move from Gaylord, they still come back to Hogan's for their jewelry needs.

Ollie and Gerry started this tradition of great service, and it continues to this day at Hogan's Jewelers.
