U-Boat began with a discovery. In 2000, Italian designer Italo Fontana found his grandfather Ilvo's 1942 sketches for a rugged pilot's watch commissioned by the Italian Navy, a design that was never produced. He brought those drawings to life and built one of the most recognizable names in modern watchmaking.

Every U-Boat is designed by Fontana himself and assembled by artisans in Lucca, in the heart of Tuscany. You can spot one from across the room: an oversized case, a dial made to read at a glance, and the unmistakable crown set on the left side with its patented protection system. The watches are built from materials like titanium, bronze, carbon, and ceramic, paired with Swiss movements for precision you can count on.
