Protect Your Investment with Jewelers Mutual
Hogan’s Jewelers is proud to offer Jewelers Mutual jewelry insurance to our customers. For over 110 years, Jewelers Mutual has been the most trusted name in dedicated jewelry insurance — covering what standard homeowners and renters policies often leave unprotected. Ask a team member about enrollment at the time of purchase.
Why Dedicated Jewelry Insurance?
Homeowners Policies Fall Short
Most homeowners and renters policies cap jewelry coverage between $1,500 and $2,000 and carry high deductibles. A standalone jewelry policy covers your piece for its full documented value with no arbitrary limits.
Claims Won’t Affect Your Home Coverage
Filing a jewelry claim under your homeowners policy can raise your premiums or put your policy at risk. With Jewelers Mutual, jewelry claims are completely separate from your home insurance record.
39 Consecutive A+ Superior Ratings
Jewelers Mutual has earned an A+ Superior rating from AM Best for 39 consecutive years, reflecting the financial strength and reliability to pay claims when you need them most.
What Is Covered
Jewelers Mutual offers all-perils coverage, meaning your jewelry is protected against most risks unless specifically excluded. Covered items include rings, engagement rings, wedding bands, watches, bracelets, earrings, necklaces, pendants, chains, pearl strands, brooches, and loose gemstones.
Loss
If you can trace the moment your jewelry went missing — a bracelet slipping off while shopping, a ring left at the gym — you are covered.
Theft
Whether a break-in at home or a pickpocket on vacation, theft of your jewelry is covered no matter where it occurs.
Damage
A bent prong, a chipped gemstone, a bracelet damaged in an accident — accidental damage is covered and handled through repair or replacement.
Mysterious Disappearance
One day it is there, the next it is not. If your jewelry vanishes without explanation, you are protected even without knowing how or where it went.
Natural Disasters
Fires, floods, hurricanes, and earthquakes are covered — including flood and earthquake damage that most other insurers specifically exclude.
Worldwide Travel
Coverage follows your jewelry wherever you go. Lost in a Paris hotel or left in a cab in Tokyo — your jewelry is protected around the world.
Normal Wear & Tear
Jewelers Mutual covers preventive maintenance and wear-related repairs including prong re-tipping, broken or bent prongs, stone tightening, earring post repair, clasp replacement, and pearl restringing.
Loose Gemstones
Loose stones are covered — a benefit many competing jewelry insurers specifically exclude from their policies.
What Is Not Covered
- Loss or damage resulting from war or military action
- Damage caused by rodent or pest infestation
- Intentional acts or voluntary parting with the jewelry
- Gradual deterioration not related to normal wear
- Damage occurring during resizing, cleaning, or inspections performed by a third party
Exclusions may vary by policy and state. Always review your policy documents for full details.
How Coverage Works
Get a Quote
Get a personalized rate online in minutes at jewelersmutual.com, or call 888-884-2424. An appraisal is not always required to apply, though uploading one simplifies the claims process if needed later.
Coverage Starts Same Day
In most cases, coverage begins the same day you apply and purchase your policy. If additional information is needed, Jewelers Mutual typically follows up within two business days.
File a Claim If Needed
Submit a claim online or by phone. Jewelers Mutual works directly with your preferred jeweler — including Hogan’s — to arrange repair or replacement. You pay any applicable deductible directly to your jeweler at pickup.
Same Kind & Quality Replacement
Unlike insurers that simply issue a check, Jewelers Mutual replaces covered items with a piece of the same kind and quality, working directly with experts to find the closest possible match.
What Does It Cost?
Jewelers Mutual coverage typically costs between 1% and 2% of your jewelry’s value per year. For a $5,000 engagement ring, that is approximately $50 to $100 annually — often less than a single dinner out. Exact premiums vary by location, coverage options, and deductible selection. Use Jewelers Mutual’s online quote tool for a precise rate based on your ZIP code.

Available Discounts
Jewelers Mutual offers several discounts that may reduce your premium depending on your state:
- Home Security System — Discount available to customers who keep jewelry in a home with an active security system.
- Safe Deposit Box — Discount for customers who store jewelry in a bank safe deposit box.
- Inscribed Jewelry (Gem ID) — Discount for jewelry inscribed with an ID number from one of Jewelers Mutual’s approved partners. Availability varies by state.
Who Is Eligible?
Jewelers Mutual personal jewelry insurance is available to individuals aged 18 and older living in all 50 U.S. states and throughout Canada (except Québec). The individual who wears the jewelry must also reside in an eligible location. Jewelry must be in your possession at the time of application and must not currently be in need of repair or maintenance.
Coverage value adjustments are available at renewal. If your appraisal is more than two years old at renewal, Jewelers Mutual automatically adjusts coverage limits every two years to help keep pace with rising jewelry values.
